Evaluation of Preliminary Assessment - Emily Cotterill

Use of the Camera:
Our finished work shows that we can hold a shot steady correctly and frame a shot appropiately. In our piece we used a variety of shot types such as over the shoulder, close ups, long shots and extreme close ups. We used composition techniques well to make sure the shot was always composed correctly and interestingly.
Use of Editing:
When we edited our clip we stuck to the rules of continuity and it shows. The clip flows really well and smoothly. We didn't use any transitions to edit the clips together but we probably should have because some of clips look a little jumpy when placed together and we will make sure we use transitions next time.
Selection of Content:
We used appropiate costume, make-up and props for our genre. For example the black and white makeup on Annalise was appropiate because it made her look dead which fitted in with the horror genre very well. The location we chose for our clip was good to use because it was true to the original and wasn't used alot by the public which made it easier for filming. The actors we used for our film were brilliant, both did as directed and took it seriously so it was quick filming and the finished product looked great.
Self-assessment:
I think that I contributed quite a lot to our intro to a horror film. I did the majority of the filming subsequently being in charge of composition quite often. I think I did a good job of this and our clip is very well composed. Also, I did the makeup for Annalise's character which turned out quite well and looked very effective in our video.
